ENGLISH 4 units (one unit of American Literature)
MATHEMATICS 4 units (for freshmen as of 2009: Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, Math 4)
SCIENCE 4 units (the 4th science may also be considered an elective)
SOCIAL STUDIES 3 units (American History, World History, ½ Economics, ½ Government)
FOREIGN LANGUAGE   2 units of the same foreign language (Students who speak English as a second language will be allowed 2 full credits for their native language.)

½ unit of Health &
½ unit of Personal Fitness

1 unit of Fine Arts (a third year of foreign language, drama, computer, Yearbook, art, film, etc.)

Academic electives, such as higher math, science, psychology, criminal justice, world religions, etc. are encouraged.

½ unit of Current Events or Cultural Literacy will be required of all students by their Junior or Senior year. (This is a Furtah Preparatory School requirement, not a state requirement.) This is to ensure global knowledge and understanding of our world and its current state of affairs and how they relate to the past, present and future.

 


All students who wish to compete collegiately must pass the appropriate number of classes per semester in order to be eligible, according to GISA rules. A Senior must be enrolled in, and pass, at least 5 classes during the Fall Semester, and 4 classes during the Spring Semester. Juniors and below must be enrolled in 6 classes.
