Ken Baskett

Education

Dean of Students

 

Colonel Baskett holds a

Bachelor of Science Degree from Tuskegee. He completed his course work for his Masters in Personnel Management at Alabama A & M University

 

He was drafted into the U.S. Army 1965 for the Vietnam War. He entered the Army as a Private First Class and retired 20 years later as a Lieutenant Colonel

Leadership Education and Training:
A. 9th Grade Beginners Leadership - Squad Level (small group Leadership)
B. 10th Grade Intermediate Leadership - Platoon Level (Ten plus in group)
C. 11th & 12th Grade Advanced Leadership; Techniques of Communications.
D. All classes receive Conflict Resolution, Team Building Concepts, and
"Intergrative Learning Concepts" whereas students improve in self-confidence.

 

Map Reading - Topographic Map (military map with Grid Coordinates)

 

Drill and Ceremonies: moving groups of people from one location to another in an organized manner, with students being in charge as Leaders.

 

Color Guard Training: Teaching a team of four (4) how to carry the Colors
or better know as Flags (the national flag and the school flag with guards).

Needs, Wants and Wishes for the Classroom

 

1) We need the harnesses to carry the Flags (Color Guard equipment).
2) We need a school Flag.
3) We need to have two flag polls for the Flags.
4) We need a small portable CD player for the classroom so we can learn new
songs and new types of cadences to march by.
5) We need a small TV (21-27 inch) with DVD or VHS capability to review Drill competition tapes.
