Furtah Montessori is a caring, child
friendly environment, which promotes early childhood development
through education using the five senses. Our dedicated teachers
guide and nurture the natural unfolding of the whole child in
an atmosphere of order, beauty, and harmony. Children are actively
supported in their self-directed pursuit of education with lifelong
intellectual and emotional growth.
The mission of Furtah Preparatory School (FPS) is to educate
the whole student. This involves quality education, instilling
a sense of behavioral responsibility, spiritual and moral formation
as well as the joy of learning. We believe that FPS and the
Montessori Philosophy fit beautifully together. Hence, FPS has
extended an open hand to our younger children ages 2.5 - Grade
3 with an AMS Affiliated Montessori Program. The Montessori
early childhood program and lower elementary program is an approach
to life that offers a prepared environment for multi-aged children.
This type of environment enables the children to build themselves
to their fullest potential in a peaceful, non-competitive atmosphere.
FPS is proud to have Ms. Denise Glass as our AMS Director of
Montessori. Ms. Denise is a graduate of Central Michigan University
with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interpersonal and Public Communications.
She received her American Montessori Society Certificate in
2003 at the Michigan Montessori Teacher Education Center (MACTE
accredited) in Rochester, Michigan. Ms. Denise is a member of
the American Montessori Society (AMS), North American Montessori
Teachers Association (NAMTA) and the International Montessori
Council (IMC). She has also attended many Montessori conferences
and continues to stay active with these organizations. Ms. Denise
has specialized training in the Biomes (Waseca Learning Environment)
and Rendezvous with Reading (Moffitt Educational Enterprises).
She has over 15 years of Teaching Skills and Marketing/Special
Events experience.
